NEW-LOOK PELICANS STRUGGLING TO COEXIST

The trade deadline’s largest shocker has had some time to age, and with the newest pairing of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, the Pelicans looked ready to storm up into playoff conversation in the West.

And with them both getting considerable minutes right off the bat on the floor together, our sample size of what that on court pairing may look like is getting larger. So what did New Orleans wind up with? Is this the team we all thought we’d see blow up the West and sneak into the postseason?

Well, not quite. We knew this team would be thin beyond Davis and Boogie, because to be honest, they were pretty thin with just Davis. And that was before surrendering the talent needed to get Boogie. But beyond that, the Pelicans have a standard bearer in point guard Jrue Holiday, who has played at an All-Star level at times.
